My Story
Hillary is a designer, researcher, educator, and leadership coach who focuses on participatory, community-oriented design and imagining futures for racial justice. She received her Ph.D. in Transition Design from Carnegie Mellon in 2023, focusing on tools for envisioning more just futures through social design collaborations. Through coaching, she transforms design leaders into true luminaries through vision-driven strategy and clarity of purpose.
Hillary researches and practices generating grassroots visions of better futures. Through design, futures, and social change, she works to collectively craft compelling visions of brighter, more just futures. She facilitates participatory futuring to ensure that people who are most affected by change (whether technological, governmental, or social) have a voice in setting a vision for the outcomes they want to see. By imagining ridiculously hopeful future outcomes as specific, realistic stories, we create and disseminate North Star visions to inform and shape technology, policy, and practical decision-making.
